In order to help Makin promote his new collections in the run up to London Fashion Week, we have begun a collaborative experiment using social media platforms Facebook and Posterous. We intend to create a poetic campaign that explores the growing feelings between two characters (that represent two collections) and the mysterious histories of them. Kinglux will be responsible for the J.Sky character, whilst the second character of Dee will be handled by Makin Jan Ma in-house.

The idea is that we promote ourselves and present an image of ourselves online that may not be entirely true to our real world selves. This experiment aims to discover new facets to the collections and explore the meanings that arise from our conversations.

As a way of collecting together the many video clips of AJ on YouTube, we have created a new personalised channel for her. In addition to this she wanted to begin a dialogue with the people who comment on her videos from the daily 5:19 Show. We created the idea of ‘AJ Answers‘ to respond to the sometimes congratulatory, sometimes cranky and regularly weird messages left in the video comments box. It is designed to show that comments written under imaginary pseudonymns are often read by the people they are directed toward and the real emotional effects this can have. Plus, it gives AJ the chance to respond to the kind of bizarre statements that she normally only gets to ask of the guests on her show.

An initial ident was made that focused on the DIY style of the clips which in turn reflected the fractured, self-promoting and imaginary personalities that are so common online whilst using pseudonymns. Nowhere is this effect more true than on the comments section of YouTube!

We take inspiration from the world around us, the people we meet and the many ways we can communicate ideas and thoughts. In turn, we offer our clients new ways to speak – and listen – to their customers that were not previously possible.
